Did you know:

Skin cancer is common

It's actually the most common cancer in the United States. About 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime.

Skin cancer is serious

One person dies of melanoma every hour, according to studies.

It's also highly curable if caught early

Basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas are the two most common types of skin cancer. They are highly curable if caught and treated early. Melanoma – which is the most deadly – has a 5-year survival rate of 99 percent if caught and treated before it spreads to lymph nodes.

Every sunburn counts

If you've had more than five sunburns, your risk of developing melanoma doubles. Having one blistering sunburn also doubles your risk.

Watch your moles

If you have more than 50 moles or any abnormal moles, you are at a higher risk of developing melanoma. Click here to learn more about normal versus abnormal moles.
